There are plenty of suckers out there that don't even bother to investigate but are willing to shell out big bucks for any puppy that someone claims is a "Shiloh" Shepherd. Silly as this may sound, supposedly intelligent people are getting fooled all of the time. Protect yourself! If you notice a site where breeders are claiming to have been breeding Shiloh Shepherds since before 1990--delete! There was only one kennel producing Shiloh Shepherd dogs between 1974 and 1990--and that kennel was owned by Tina M. Barber and located in New York! Take a few moments to find out what these dogs are all about! Read the article that was writen back in 1990! What is a Shiloh Shepherd? None of the new (splinter) club registries existed prior to 1999! Please read the full details in our Confusion and What Do All the Acronyms Mean articles. Any person claiming to have bred Shiloh Shepherds prior to to the formation of the splinter registries may be verified via these ISSR links.
The imposters may try to hide their dirty deeds but we take pride in providing the public with full documentation regarding our beloved breed! |

For other so called "breeders" promoted by this group as "experts" on dogs
they never knew (otherwise known as pathetic little MaShiloh wannabees),
please read
Who Are These People and discover the truth! Although other malcontents from the late 90's have joined this group in order to sell their unpapered puppies, we chose not to list them due to their sheer lack of importance and our desire not to waste valuable web space on them! If you have any questions, please take a few moments to visit our ISSR Licensed Breeder page. We list all active ISSR breeders on this page! If the person that you have contacted is not listed here, please look at our Licensed Breeder Matrix and you can determine their exact standing with the ISSR! If you can't find them listed anywhere--we have probably never heard of them either! The following listing consists of a few of the more recent detractors that are now claiming to be breeding "Shiloh Shepherds" although they have never been productively affiliated with the ISSR. Even though they attempted to join the Licensed Breeder group upon realizing the full scope of the strict rules they would have to adhere to, they chose to drop out quickly and attain fake papers for the dogs they embezzled.
Others never bothered to check out the truth. They just wanted to make money by exploiting the Shiloh Shepherd name. They even tried to unite in 2004 and applied for UKC recognition!! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR -- take some time to read this SSDCA, Inc. rebuttal letter, and follow the links! http://www.shilohshepherds.com/letterToUKC.htm For a better understanding of what is involved in breeding Quality Shiloh Shepherds, be sure to read Tina Barber's Real Questions, Honest Answers from the Shiloh Shepherd Breed Founder! For more details please visit our Licensed Breeder Matrix and read Puppy Producers: What Are They? If you don't see their name listed on our matrix you could be dealing with the farmer I met!

Now let's jump in and check out some honest details about the "registries" these oxymorons are using! |

None of these "paper mills" require legitimate proof of ancestry or ownership! They just issue a "certificate" for a fee! None of these "registries" that "claim" to be maintaining data for "Shiloh Shepherds" have a specific parent breed club supporting their efforts. Anyone can enter any mixed breed and represent it as a Shiloh Shepherd. All established dog breeds have parent club representation as well as protection from an established registry like the AKC/CKC, etc. or they are protected through their country of origin via the FCI. This kind of foolishness is just a recent phenomenon that has sprung up, and grown into a big "legalized" scam in order to provide unethical breeders and puppy millers with "legitimate" looking papers.
In order to determine the registry affiliate of various breeders coast to coast, please take a moment to view: Canada's Dogs. Please note; nearly all of the non- ISSR "breeders" are claiming affiliation with the least credible (private "shiloh" registry) the NSBR!!! Maybe because of the fact that they will issue papers for *any* dog, no matter who owns it, or what his previous registration papers stated?? Just like the examples listed in these three cases!! How can they expect to "get away" with their shady dealings? Unfortunately, unless the "breed" that they are claiming "paper processing" rights to is trademarked, or copyrighted, legal agencies will not offer any protection! It's up to the legal owner of the individual dog to file to civil/criminal charges for fraud against the perpetrators! We all know that in the real world, dog breeds are not "owned" by only one individual, and therefore cannot be legally trademarked--unless all of the dogs were bred by (or under contract to) a specific individual and continued to utilize that person's name, thus benefiting from the good will that was established as a direct result of that name. If that person can prove that he/she meets the requirements for common law protection, then civil action can be filed! What has prevented us from doing just that and putting a stop to all of the fraud that is being associated with the Shiloh Shepherd name? Money! Each individual in each state/country would have to be charged and prosecuted! Each of those cases could easily cost from $20,000 to $100,000! However, upon winning each of these cases, some of the damages (depending upon the financial status of each person) could be recovered! Could we win? Of course! We have already been there and done that. Please take a moment to review.... <<Defendants acknowledge that Shiloh Shepherd™ and International Shiloh Shepherd Registry, Inc. ™ are valid and protectable trademarks of which Barber and ISSR are the rightful owners, respectively. Defendants affirm Plaintiffs’ trademark rights and agree that no future use or infringement of the name or mark (nor colorable imitation or variation thereof) will be made, irrespective of whether the mark(s) are accepted for registration on the Register. [emphasis added]>> ISSR, SSDCA, Barber vs. Watts, Turkheimer and USSDC
This case has already set a precedent! We have full intentions of prosecuting all present offenders as the funds from the sale of The Shiloh Shepherd Story become available!
